Embrace the Chic in Spring Chick.

Highlight That Spring Glow.

My top three tips and spring trends that'll get you looking and feeling like that spring sunshine.

The Beachy wave.

Get those locks looking chic and summer ready! Light and bronzy highlights or a cute ombre was all the rage last summer but why wait for the trends when you can be the trend setter?! Either way, it'll be sure to embrace the spring shine and add an unmissable glow! And of course you can't forget about that classic beachy wave that gives all the signs of an effortless, natural radiance. (To avoid using heat tools and damaging those locks that we want looking super soft and healthy just plait your hair before bed and it truly will be effortless and look totally chic chick ;)).

Its all about the Sierra.

Take a stunning sunning selfie and add that old school, LA sunshine chic you'll be sure to be noticed for. (Instagrams Sierra Filters up there for that spring flair).

Dash of baby pink to make the world wink. ;)

Become a part of spring and embrace your inner flower. Pink is my fave colour (if you couldn't tell by the blog...) and it's the perf colour to brighten up any spring day, not mention it's a classic, chic staple whether your going for the cute girly girl or the soft grunge vibe or jazzing up that festival look and anywhere in between.

Don't forget to comment anymore spring trends or top tips you'll be sure not to be with out in the upcoming spring months. Once again, that's all for now folks, see you next time!

Tuedays Newsday. Outfit of the day.

Perfect for that spring shine and those spring chills.

The very first post for the Tuesdays Newsday series. Most loved spring outfit.

Tuesdays Newsday; every Tuesday you'll get a quickity snipity blog post about my Tuesday. Ranging from outfits of the day to an embarrassing (and hilarious, as they always are...) experience.

(...what have I let myself in for?!)

But let's get back to the main aim of the post shall we? #Ootd ;)

In my opinion, layering those light knits over a pretty floral cami will be sure to give you the double take look this spring. Pairing with your fave comfy leggings (Spot the white paint on mine... opps. It just comes with the Art Student territory). Matching this look with the cutest, on trend shoe, the classic slip on and brightening up with rose gold, the prefect colour for spring! The light toned metal defiantly adds a shine and glow to any outfit. (This is deffo my go to spring shoe!) For extra oomph I added a ditsy floral ring, simple gold midi ring and my rose gold (surprise, surprise...) watch from Olivia Burton.

To Transition in to the evening swap up your light knit for your fave leather jacket (I went for my fave brown biker jacket!) Grab the classic, black structured mini satchel and maybe give a dark pink or red lip a whirl.

Items featured:
Rose Gold Slip Ons- H&M, ASOS & Ted Baker (via Asos)

(All links are the exact if not similar products shown/mentioned in images above).

So, grab those shades and enjoy the day in a rocking spring look!
Be sure to comment any of your fave outfits of the day or maybe your go to spring item! :)

Art Tips and Tricks.

1. Oil Paint.

So, being an art student at university I've decided to start a blog post series, Art Tips and Tricks. Little life hacks in the art world. (Be sure to keep your eye out for the next one ;)).

In keeping with this series being short and sweet, lets get down to business shall we?

The Oil Paint Dilemma.

For any fellow artists out there, graced by the medium of Oil Paint you will know exactly what I'm talking about. Stains. Oil paint is a an oil based paint (Hence the name April...) meaning when coming in to contact with most materials and skin it can be more than a hellish challenge to recover those perfect jeans or your lucky sweater (people still have those right?). To put it quite simply it just gets everywhere.
I recently had this very dilemma. I SAT IN OIL PAINT! (I know... but cut me some slack, 'clumsy' seemed to be my middle name today. But back to the story...). Green oil paint smudged on my bum (could it get any worse?... yes, I was just about to start my Art Assessment) wearing my favourite blue floral leggings. Life.
But despite all my previous 'clumsy mishaps' with oil and the outcome being nothing but heartbreak. I discovered a solution.
Recovering my leggings to their former glory. The trick is Neat washing up liquid. (How could it have been that simple all along?) Soaking the neat washing up liquid in the infected area (yes, infected. Its a plague among my wardrobe I tell you! aha) then after about 10 minutes, getting a clean dry cloth (one you don't mind getting the oil paint on) with a squeeze of washing up liquid on, rub over the mark with circular motions. AND HAY PRESTO! You'll be able to see the paint lifting off revealing what you thought would be lost forever. Your clothes will live again and will be as sassy as ever. *But be sure to catch the crime while it's still fresh. Once its dried, to the scrap heap it goes!*

This post is dedicated to my loves that have been lost at war. (May my many fallen garments rest in peace).

Getting your crimp on.

Team Crimp.

Hair of the day.

For those who know me, know I love a good crimp. Need a quick hair style that'll look photo shoot ready In a matter of minutes? The Crimp is the answer to your prayers. For me my Crimpers have by far been a well used tool in my hair appliance collection. (It's my go to hair fix!)

So, I thought I'd share a quick post about taking that crimp to a whole new level. I'm talking about Katherine Pierce, The Vampire Diaries levels. (or at least that's what it reminds me of).

(So, without anymore dillydallying lets get some pictures up in here...)

*Starting by French braiding the front section of your hair (about three fingers width from the hairline), and doing a standard plait from the lower ear down, then secure and hair spray. Lastly crimp small sections of the left over hair and your good to go!!* (The perfect spring/summer festival hair that'll look great and last all day & night long).

And of course,  the faithful standard crimp.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Mondays.

There's a lot to be said for those Monday mornings that everyone so dreads. But why? How do we channel (in the words of yours truly) the lone ranger within us. The go getter. The independent, motivational spirit we all have (somewhere) within us. Because when the going get's tough, the tough get going. (Which means all of us ;)).

For me, its about (As Gok Wan would say...) 'If you want to feel good then you have got to start from within.' And isn't that the truth.

However, looking on the bright side and having a positive outlook (especially on those days where you can't even get out of bed, yeah you know the ones...) can be easier said than done. So, here are my quick simple tips to making those Monday morning's (and any other day of the week if your anything like me) a little more... je ne sais quoi? Oh wait, that's it, POSSITIVE. So, let's see if we can get you up and about, moving and a grooving (get on with it April...) for the weeks to come.

Presenting...

The Tough Time Tackling Tick list.

(Is that too much?)

This tick list is composed of my personal recommendations to feeling good, which in turn will turn that frown upside down and good ideas that will help you feel ready to get going.

Right! Let's GET GOING. (see what I did there? Okay, I've said that too many times right?!)

A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP.  There's nothing worse than waking up on the early Monday morning (or any morning for that matter) and feeling more tired than you were when you went to bed! I know, really not starting the week with that ready for anything, lets make it a good one vibe. (I've been there trust me its not). For more guidance and information visit http://www.nhs.uk/LiveWell/sleep/Pages/sleep-home.aspx

THE HEARTY HEALTHY BREAKFAST. An apple a day keeps more than the doctor away. (Yeah, I know, you've heard it all before)- "Breakfast is the most important meal the day" but I'm saying it again for all those (including me at one point, so your preaching the choir... or at least you were) who just fly by the kitchen for a quick biscuit or that spare chocolate bar that's at the back of the cupboard or sit down to a breakfast that isn't going to help you make the most of your day (yes, I'm speaking from experience, especially with three brothers). **(For all those who need an on the go breakfast expect a near future blog post for my fave on the go breakfast and lunch recipe's)** but for now, the key staples for this important meal are fruit, carbohydrates (to keep you burning that oil all through the day), protein and a small amount of healthy fats. (Follow these small changes and you'll be sure to challenge any day ahead of you. Remember, it all starts from within.)
For more details and help in this area try out http://www.everydayhealth.com/health-report/healthy-breakfast/components-of-a-healthy-breakfast.aspx

MOTTOS AND QUOTES. Yes, you really did read that correctly, a motto. Who could be without one? Definitely not me. And I hope neither will you. Give yourself that little boost of confidence, feed the ego (not too much ;)) and get motivated with a can do attitude. They're a quick and simple way to get any day (especially the hardest of all for the majority of us, MONDAYS). With endless possibilities and pretty much able to be tailored to any circumstances, you'll never be with out a little pick me up. Words go a long way so why not use them to your advantage.

LIST THERAPY. Lists. The saviour of all challenging and task filled situations. (I for one am a big believer in its healing powers). Making lists, I believe, is one of the biggest de-stressing solutions out there. Putting your next hour, day, week, month or year (maybe more if your ambitious but we will get to that later...) helps to de clutter your mind and prioritize (yes, the word that carry's the sometimes negative meaning of compromise but don't let that fool you). Prioritizing needn't mean things to be struck off the list, but a hierarchy of things of most value or importance to that of lesser urgency. It's list therapy, if you want it on the list, its on there and its there to stay (no one can tamper with the magical powers your list possesses). Don't dwell on confusing thoughts and risk the inevitable frustration of forgetfulness, make a list. (Once you start you cant stop, its addictive!)

HYDRATION. As mentioned before, hydration is the key player In the game of success and your overall positivity. Giving the super powers of energy, refreshment and relief (to those eventual thirst cravings and the devil of de-hydration). Needn't I say any more? A life necessity is a success necessity. (Drink up ma hearties Yoho)

A PLAY LIST THAT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO PLAY. Whatever gets you 'moving and a grooving' is a win (well, for me at least). Whip out those timeless classics or something a little more wild, and your bound to be feeeeelingg goooood. (Micheal Bublé never gets old...)

SPIRIT WARRIOR. (Okay, now this one may sound a little silly but does the trick) What better way to beat the day by channelling your inner Beyoncé or Miley Cyrus (if your that way inclind, I deffo am). Forget about small worries that have snowballed out of control and roll on past that lazy phase (yep, I deffo know that one too well) and GET YOUR SPIRT ANIMAL ON. Turn that feek up and join the party, with a can do attitude and the confidence and energy that'll get you to where you need to be and fast. (P.s my favourite tip yet ;) )

YOGA. If you have the time, yoga should be on the (and is definitely on my) to do list. Being fairly new to yoga I can 100% say it makes a difference. Any activity like a morning run or fun sport will start releasing those feel good endorphins and of course a breath of fresh air will get you going and do a world of good. Yoga is just one of many and my favourite (not to mention de-stressing) activity yet.

ABBITION LIKE THE STARS. Goals. Similar to list making, writing down goals, creating inspiration boards, writing an aspiration diary or creating a pinterest or simply putting some mental thought in to it can spur you and your drive forward. Being someone who frequently makes lists, plans and goals, big and small. Its a great time reflect and look forward to what you want to be next in store for you. (With that said its never a bad time to try something spontaneous and say yes to something wacky, you never know it may just take a turn to something greatly unexpected). Non the less its a great spur on and motivational tip to help you realise those Monday mornings will all be worth it in the long run for sure!!

COMPLIMENTING THOSE AROUND YOU. Again, words. They carry powerful meanings and messages. The ability to make someone else's day has the result of making your day. Being kind, polite and spontaneously  friendly is as much a selfless act as it is selfish. (Remember, making someone shine, enables you too to shine just a bright).

and last but not least... PEOPLE. Following the last tip about others, surrounding yourself with likeminded and positivity boosting people are the relationships to cherish. Friends especially who you give and get back good vibes are without a doubt the top tippity top people you want to be around.

Right I think we will stop there, I could go on for hours, these are but a few of my top tips. With the hope that was some sort of use, non the less it was great to write and really get me thinking about what it is that makes me and hopefully others out there happy and ready for anything that may come their way.

Don't forget to comment anything that gives your day that little nudge everyone needs once in a while.

That's all for now folks,

Spring Flower.

Spring has sprung.

Its that time of year again, when the suns out and the blossoms blooming. Spring has sprung. As much as I love a good winter month, a chunky knit and beautiful boot, spring has rapidly become my favourite time of year.

Easter of course (Besides the Religious meanings), is daffodils and chocolate. But there's so much more. For me, having two weeks home from uni, its the perfect time to catch up with old friends and family. The clocks go back, the evenings become lighter and your whole perspective of the day shifts. Whether your experiencing the sunny glows of spring or the light April showers that entail with the season change. There's no doubt a view of blossom, a light knit, a book or friendly face joined with a cup of tea, hot cross bun or a homemade Victoria sponge will brighten and cheer up any day.

(And of course you can't forget those Easter cakes)

TOP FIVE GENERAL UNI ESSENTIALS:

Embarking the University road can be both challenging and exciting. Once you've gone through the sleepless nights of wondering what university's to choose, whether or not you'll be accepted to the university of your choice and (the big whopper) whether university is right for you?! Your then on to the next stage, the most exciting one -or at least for me anyway, SHOPPING!
When preparing for university It can be challenging to predict what your going to need in everyday life, especially for those living away from home, and the essentials for your upcoming lectures. (Yes, the dreaded eventual end to months off for summer, when LECTURES BEGIN- but don't worry it's not all as daunting as it may seem ;). Take it from someone who's just recently been in your shoes, don't over think and focus on the negative because chances are, your cutting yourself short of what your really capable of. Be positive, go get it and don't stop. In the words of a friend 'You gotta do what you gotta do' and when life doesn't stop for you, don't stop for it.

After that quick intro and slight side track... without further a do may I present to you my,
Short and Sweet Top Five Guide to the most needed Uni essentials to get you being the tip top Uni student that we are all so capable of being (equipment wise anyway).

1. Be a Stationary Star.

Get your geek on and be the student who's always prepared but in a travel light sort of way (because not everyone has the upper body strength to be carrying around the worlds heaviest backpack of supplies). Chances are your going to need stationary with whatever course your doing, so why get on ball now.
(Pens, highlighters, a favourite pen, coloured pen [Pink], sticky notes and a sharpener)

2. Team Laptop.

The big purchase you'll no doubt be thankful for! With the world fast becoming predominantly technological, so is your Uni! Ideal for Essay writing, research, email, online ebooks and more. You will be sure to be on top with your trusty laptop by your side. (Plus the internet is a great time passer!)

Whether it be, a top of the scale expense wise, Apple Mac book (a purchase that is in the diary for me!) or the middle ground Windows, it's sure to be your wisest investment yet!

3. King of Tupperware.

When the world gets tough Tupperware will find a solution. The multi purpose holy grail of kitchenware will save your skin more than once, and I'm sure of it! Finding its way to every room in your accommodation. You can never have to many food storage boxes, dishes, lunchboxes, containers, bowls (for the stereotypical students out there, me included) and all the other uses you can find, its a must have in any student household.

(Don't forget to keep track of the lids! ;))

4. Stay Hydrated.

Water. The key to so many problems. It's so easy to forget to have a drink of water before its too late and buying bottles of water won't break the bank however, for all students out there, every little really does help! A good water bottle is chemical free, and just 100% handy.
(Mine's Mountain Warehouse, BPA Free!)

5. Matt the Shower Whisperer.

This is by far the most unacknowledged yet most used essential on the list (I'm talking to all you moving away from home future students out there!). A Shower Matt. You can thank me later, when you whip out your shower matt in either shared facilites or an en-suite, with the pleasure of knowing its brand new and 100% clean for the soul owner, YOU. Happy feet = a happy day.

Well, that's my Top Five insight in to what I think are just a few of the essentials to the Uni life, feel free to comment what you think will be your top five essentials and if I missed out any vital necessities.
